She was b. in Cambria, Mich., Feb. 22, 1862. She d. in Monroe, Mich., Oct. 25, 1934. Her grave is in the Houghtby family lot at Cambria. She was a dau. of George F. Houghtby, b. Lincolnshire, England, Aug. 27, 1829. He d. Apr. 14, 1884. Hattie's mother was Pheobe (sic) E. Jewell, b. Duchess co., N.Y., July 3, 1839. George F. and Pheobe were mar. in Lichfield, Mich., Oct. 1855. After the death of Mr. Houghtby, Phoebe mar. Julius Byron Berry at Cambria, Mich., June 7, 1894. Mr. Berry d. at Reading, Mich., Feb. 5, 1903. Mrs. Berry died about 1932, at Monroe, Mich.

Asahel Earll was son-in-law of John Molby, and father of Mrs. William McKelvey, of Barnes, Kansas, who has the certificate of membership which Samuel Molby as Captain of the Company issued to Asahel Earll at the time of his enlistment for seven years as a member of Company G of the New York State National Guard, 27th of June, 1863.
Earll was also a volunteer as of September 2, 1864, as a private in Company H., 185th Regiment of New York State Infantry for one year or the duration of the war. He was discharged the 30th of May, 1865, with a statement in his discharge papers that there was no known reason why he should not enlist in the army for further service, if needed. Mr. Earll was a farmer.
